Variant with OLYMPUS MVX10 microscope

The digital measuring microscope OCS M-100 is a modular optical system intended for measuring of various mechanical parts with micrometric repeatable accuracy.

Measuring functions:

The system is intended for measurements of mechanical parts that are larger than is the field of view of the microscope.
The system is equipped with the following measuring functions.

X-Y measurements:

  • Linear dimensions – arbitrary length, length of a line segment projection to x and y axis
  • Perpendicular distance from a point to a line
  • Length of a polyline
  • Angles (4 variants of definition, complementary angles)
  • Perimeter, area, radius and diameter of a circle
  • Perimeter, area and axes of an ellipse
  • Distance between centers of two circles (e.g. holes)
  • Perimeter and area of a polygon

Measurements in Z axis:

  • depth/height(optional)

Measuring procedure:

The measurement is performed by consecutive defining of points, whose coordinates are captured by a microscopic stage with a digital read-out. The live image from a microscope is displayed on a PC screen and the measuring points can be defined interactively. There are two ways of defining the measuring points: by capturing the coordinates of a centre of field of view marked with a central cross or by clicking the mouse on a desired spot in the live image. The measured quantities are then automatically calculated from defined measuring points. The Magnifier tool which magnifies particular area in the live image can be used for more accurate definition of measuring points.

Exports to Microsoft Excel:

The measured values are along with captured coordinates of all measuring points displayed in a well arranged table. The measured values can be easily exported to a Microsoft Excel file for further statistical processing. The measured values can be also continuously exported to an open Microsoft Excel file at the current cursor position.

Snapshots recoding:

Snapshots of a current field of view can be easily saved in a JPEG file. The snapshots can be afterwards processed using the optional Digital Imaging module (DI).

System openness:

The microscope with a wide scale of stands, optical equipment and stages represents an open system which allows optimization of its parameters according to the customer’s needs.

Stages with the following movement ranges are available: 76x52, 110x105, 150x150, 200x200 and 300x300mm.

System parts:

  • OLYMPUS optical microscope with variety of magnifications
  • colour digital camera
  • X-Y microscopic stage with digital read-out of coordinates with movement range up to 300x300mm
  • measuring software

Minimal system requirements - OCS M-100

Digital Imaging Module (DI)

Digital Imaging module is an extensive module for OCS M-100 measuring software. This module allows processing of snapshots captured by the measuring microscope. The snapshot is immediately after capturing transferred to the DI module and displayed on a PC screen. The snapshot can be then easily edited and the measurements within the image can be performed.

Basic module functions overview:

  • measurements within the image and calibrated scale bar inserting
  • measured values are displayed in a well arranged table with possibility to write annotations and to save to Microsoft Excel file
  • work with several images at the same time, image editing, marking interesting spots, text labeling
  • printed reports in Microsoft Word format

Measuring functions overview (measurements within the captured image):

  • lengths (line segment, polyline)
  • calibrated scale (with the option to define the appearance of the scale bar)
  • areas, perimeters and diameters (ellipse, polygon, circle defined by a centre, radius, diameter or three points)
  • radius, length and area of an arc
  • angles (arbitrary angle, angle from horizontal or vertical axis, angle defined by two line segments with apex outside the image area)
  • hardness after Brinell (EN ISO 6505-1:1999)
  • micro-hardness after Vickers (EN ISO 4516:2002)
  • distance between two parallel lines
  • object counting
  • phase analysis
  • calibrated grid (orthogonal or circular)
  • measured quantities for each measuring object are selectable, including prefix for each quantity
  • movable labels with measured values
  • possibility to lock calibrations with a password protection
